Retina Fellowship

Surgical Retina Fellowship

The learning never stops - this is especially true for the subject of retinal surgery. It is complex and microscopically dexterity is needed, as well as good nerves, and courage for the right amount of action but also patience when required.

The key strength of our surgical retinal fellowship is an active role of the fellow in all surgical cases, starting on day one, with extensive practical exposure. Mentors are well experienced and often trained at some of the top and most prestigious programs around the world. Their goal is to help fellows excel in the surgical field of vitreoretinal disease during their ophthalmology fellowship.

Another key strength of our retina fellowship is the one on one personal mentoring! This gives the fellow the possibility to discuss cases with their mentor. Clinical training will include numerous opportunities for the appraisal and discussion during the surgical retina fellowship.

A fellow will finish the surgical Vitreoretinal Fellowship with the confidence to handle surgical cases that will encounter their following career as vitreoretinal surgeon.

What To Expect From The Fellowship

The education during the surgical vitreoretinal fellowship in Indiacwill be alternating between clinical examinations and surgical work, with a strong focus on active OR time. The fellow is expected to be fully involved in the day-to-day routine of their mentor.

Fellows are also expected to educate themselves beyond the clinical training. Literature such as Ryan “Retina”, Yannuzzi “The Retinal Atlas” or Gass “Atlas of Macular Diseases” should be studied extensively. Fellows are also expected to keep a personal logbook of cases done, with detailed information about the case, the procedure, newly learned skills, problems solved, occurred complications and possibilities to prevent them.

What Cases Will Be Seen

Cases will be ranging depending on emerging patients. However, it is most likely that follwong cases will be seen and operated on:
